Longisa Etches Name in History Again at Payton Jordan Invitational

Stanford, California – Longisa cements another record into the history books, becoming the fastest outdoor 800-meter runner in WSU history. Her time currently ranks fifth in the country. Evans Kurui, Jaylyn Lehner, and Hailey Cossey also won their respective races to add to the successful night for Washington State.
Rozzy put herself into the history books again this evening, finishing the 800-meter race in first with a time of 2 minutes and 0.27 seconds. This time is a program record for the sophomore, who surpassed Celesetine N'Drin's time set more than 35 years ago. Longisa now holds the school record in the Women's Indoor 800m, Outdoor 800m, Indoor Mile, and Outdoor 1500m. Her time currently ranks fifth in the nation, and she now holds a top-five time in two different races.
Evans Kurui added another victory on the day for the Cougs in the Men's 1500 Section 2. His time of 3 minutes and 42.34 seconds was a personal best for the Kenyan. Vincent Koech finished in sixth with a time of 3 minutes and 47.34 seconds.
Hailey Cossey won the first race of her collegiate career, taking the Women's 1500m Section 3 race. Her time of 4 minutes and 27.90 seconds was a personal best for the freshman.
Lily Herman and Isabela Alvarado both got sixth in the Women's 800-meter, Herman racing in Section 3 while Alvarado ran in Section 2.
In the Men's 800-meter Section 3 race, Ricard Verges and Chase Bartlett finished in third and fourth, respectively. Verges ran a time of 1 minute and 54.63 seconds while Bartlett finished right behind his teammate in 1 minute and 54.90 seconds.
Jaylyn Lehner was another victor in Stanford, winning the Section 3 5000 meter race. Her time of 16 mintues and 46.75 seconds was a personal best time, breaking her previous best by almost 20 seconds. Lauren Hoyt also set an almost 10 second personal best in the 5k with a time of 16 minutes and 53.58 seconds, good for second place. Kaleena Narus also set a personal best, finishing in seventh, with a time of 17 minutes and 23.27 seconds.
In the Women's 5000m Section 2 race, Faith Kipmaiyo set a personal best time of 16 minutes and 4.82 seconds, finishing in third. Mercy Biwott set a season best, finishing in 6th. Aleeya Cossey set a personal best to finish in 13th. Caroline Jepkorir finished in 14th with an almost thirty second personal best time of 16 minutes and 31.65 seconds.
