April 29, 2026 | Football
Pullman, Wash. – Keith Brown is entering his third year at Washington State at linebacker. Brown played in all 13 games during the 2024 season completing 26 tackles, 2.5 for loss including a sack, and recorded two quarterback hurries before sitting out because of injury during the 2025 season.
We recently had the chance to sit down with graduate student Keith Brown.
What drew you to WSU?
I wanted to get back to the roots of college football and why I came to college in the first place. For me WSU was the perfect place for that, it wasn't the draw of all the NIL money and all that extra stuff. It was simple, it was earn your sport and play football so that's why I wanted to come back.
Do you have any family members who play college or professional sports?
Yeah, my cousin Ramon Richards played for Oklahoma State (2014-17) and then played for the Rams (2018-2020) when they won a Super Bowl a few years ago.
How has Richards impacted you on the field?
Just knowing that my family member can do it. Let's just keep the tradition going.
Do you have any hidden talents, or what is something that no one knows about?
I can do a bunch of tricks on bikes, scooters, and skateboards. I grew up as a skateboard kid.
What is your favorite memory of playing football?
Probably winning the 2022 Holiday Bowl when I played for Oregon, that was the most fun moment. You get to bowl season and the whole team transfers, coaches leave and all that stuff. And winning that bowl game with half a team and half a coaching staff was so much fun.
What is the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
Stay the course, not everything is going to be given to you right away. I'm in my sixth year of college and if I had told myself six years ago, I would still be in college I'd say no. So just stay the course and as long as you keep your head down everything will work out.
What do you like to do in your free time outside of football?
I live at the golf course; I golf a lot. Whenever I can get a chance and my body feels right I go every time. I love golfing with some buddies, Kyle Martin, Jack Bal, Jaylen Thomas, we all love to golf.
What is your go to pregame meal?
Something light, I like to look skinny out there. I don't like to feel bloated so just some chicken and a little bit of rice. I don't usually have the biggest appetite pregame.
What is your favorite thing to do in Pullman?
I love to go to Palouse Ridge, it's my favorite thing to do when I have free time. Or I like to walk my dog, I have a little pitbull mastiff.
If you didn't play football, what sport would you play?
I thought I was going to be a college wrestler growing up, before I thought I was going to be a football player. So, wrestling, we'd be rolling around somewhere.
Who's a football player you look up to?
Bobby Wagner, I was able to meet him when I was either 14 or 15. I've stayed in contact with him since then and he's definitely been a role model for me and someone I want to model my game after.
