Sarah Monn Joins Cougar Rowing Staff

A four-year collegiate rower, Monn will join the WSU rowing staff as an assistant coach.
PULLMAN, Wash. – Sarah Monn has joined the Washington State rowing staff as an assistant coach, WSU head rowing coach, Jane LaRiviere, announced Thursday.Â
"Sarah stood out during the interview process and we are happy to welcome her to our coaching staff," LaRiviere said. Â "We can't wait to hit the water with a lot of new faces and fresh ideas."
Monn comes to the Palouse after serving as the novice girls' coach at Peddie School, a boarding school in Highstown, N.J. in the spring of 2017 and an intern rowing coach for the open women at Princeton in the fall of 2016.Â
At Peddie School, the novice squad placed fourth at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship. Prior to her time at Peddie School and Princeton, Monn was the novice women's coach at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., for two years (2014-16). In her first year, the novice made it to the grand final at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia.
A native of Skillman, N.J., Monn rowed four seasons at Clemson (2010-13). She was a part of second place finishes at four ACC Championships, with the novice, varsity four and second varsity eight crews. She was also a part of the varsity four crew that competed in the 2011 NCAA Championships. Monn was a two-time All-ACC Academic Team member (2012 and 2013).Â
A 2014 graduate of Clemson, Monn received her degree in French language with an athletic leadership minor.
The Cougars finished 14th at the 2017 NCAA Championships in their fifth-straight NCAA appearance. She joins a coaching staff that includes LaRiviere and assistant coach Karl Huhta.Â
