Elling Quaintance Finishes Action at Junior World Rowing Championships

Canada's double sculls placed third in the B Final Sunday.
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands – Washington State rowing freshman Ivy Elling Quaintance finished third in the B Final as part as Canada's junior women's double sculls, Sunday, at the Junior World Championships at Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Teaming up with Emma Gray, Elling Quaintance advanced to the B Final Saturday after finishing fourth in her heat of double sculls with a time of 8:11.25. The top three in the heat advanced to Sunday's A Final, while the rest, including Canada, advanced to the B Final. The United States won the heat with a time of 8:04.89, followed by Italy in second and Denmark in third.Â
In the B Final Sunday, Canada rowed in fourth place for the majority of the race before overtaking China for third at the 1500-meter mark. Elling Quaintance and Gray finished two seconds behind second-place France at 7:17.75. Spain won the heat in a time of 7:13.72.
Elling Quaintance and the Washington State rowers open the fall season at the Spokane Small Boat Regatta, Saturday, Sept. 24 at Spokane.Â
