CRIMSON GIRL DANCE TEAM TRYOUTS APRIL 22-23, 2011 (Crimson Girls Tryout Registration is Closed)

The Washington State University Crimson Girls dance team features one of the top dance teams in the Pacific Athletic Conference. The Cougars are looking for talented, energetic and articulate young women who are enthusiastic about dancing for some of the most dynamic athletic teams in the PAC-12 conference! The WSU Crimson Girls are an important aspect of game production and public relations for Washington State University. They serve as ambassadors for the University in a variety of ways including dancing at all home games, participating in University events and community appearances. The team has placed second in the Hip Hop Division at USA Nationals in Las Vegas three times and in 2009 placed eighth in the Hip Hop division at UDA Nationals in Orlando, Florida!

REQUIREMENTS

Ability to learn choreography quickly, as you will be learning a pom breakdown, a jazz routine, the fight song and a hip hop routine over the course of two days.

Strong dance technique, including the following:
•Double pirouette turning right on the left foot
•Triple pirouette
•Turns in second
•High kicks
•Hip Hop Stall and/or handstand
•Turn combination
* Dancers will be evaluated on performance (stage presence), pom motions, technical ability, hip hop style, appearance, interview, and fitness (endurance).

WHAT TO WEAR AT TRYOUTS

You will be evaluated on appearance, so consider clothing that is appropriate and appealing. Absolutely no jewelry, gum chewing or logos for other colleges or universities is permitted. Please come "game ready" which means hair (down) and makeup to impress! The proper attire for tryouts is as follows: Sports bra top, dance pants, dance shoes or sneakers. (You will be performing pom, jazz and hip hop so please bring proper footwear for each style.)

Please make sure to register online and bring the following with you to tryouts: your tryout application page with a current picture attached, and documentation of a current physical examination from your doctor.
