Captains' Corner: Maureen Perez
September 22, 2007 After a long preseason full of excitement we were all excited to get our first Pac-10 weekend underway. We left on Thursday for an hour and half flight to Eugene, Oregon, to play Oregon State Friday night and then Oregon on Saturday night. Friday came and after a good two-hour study hall we all got out of the hotel and went to see what Eugene had to offer which to us meant Nike! We took a walk to the Nike store and then came back to prepare of OSU. Our first match against the Beavers was an intense one; it was a battle the whole time. Unfortunately we came up a bit shy of the victory in five games, but we did some awesome things. Our team really battled and never gave up, and hopefully next time we play the Beavers the outcome will come out in our favor. The next night we played Oregon and started a little slow but we ended with a fight. We got our first PAC-10 weekend out of the way and we learned a lot, from the good and the bad. Sometimes things are tough and you take tough losses, but if it were easy, everyone would be doing it! We are excited to practice hard this week and prepare for our game against the Huskies this Friday at home. It is our fist home game in what seems forever and we are all looking forward to playing in front of our fans and on the better side of the state!
Until Next time...
