COUGAR VOLLEYBALL MAKES STRIDES IN 2012 COUGAR COACHING STAFF COUGAR VOLLEYBALL 2012 HIGHLIGHTS School Record: Team Hitting Percentage - .516 vs. Alabama State Jaicee Harris was named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention, the second consecutive year a Greeny-coached player made the All-Pac-12 team. Marcelina Glab was the Pac-12 Defensive Player of Week (9/10-16)...Glab's 1.59 bps was first in the Pac-12 and 6th nationally...after 5 weeks of play, WSU led the nation with 3.28 bps. NOTEABLE STATS: **WSU's 2012 overall team stats improved in six of seven areas over 2011: hitting percentage, opponent hitting percentage, assists, kills, blocks and digs...in conference only matches, WSU's 2012 team stats improved in opponent stats, assists, kills, blocks and digs. **Team hitting percentage (.209) second highest for WSU in 10 years. **WSU took No.2 Stanford to five sets with a 5th set tie at 7-7 before falling 15-10. FIVE COUGARS NAMED TO PAC-12 ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS COUGAR VOLLEYBALL CLASS OF 2013 ANNOUNCED Emmy Allen, a 6-2 outside hitter from Mill Creek, Wash. - One of 24 seniors nationally named to the 2012 Under Armour High School All-America First Team...named one of PrepVolleyball.com's Top 100 players...MVP of winning Team West and Best Server at the 2012 Under Armour Volleyball Match & Skills Competition...two-time All-Area Player of the Year...led Jackson HS team to third place at 2012 state 4A championships after winning a title in 2010, plus eighth and fourth place finishes. Hailey Bethune, a 6-0 outside hitter from Stockton, Calif. - named a PrepVolleyball.com Senior Ace...her 5.5 kills per set led Lincoln HS to an undefeated 2012 season and the San Joaquin Athletic Association championship, the third title in four years. Taylor Ellingsen, a 5-7 defensive specialist from Spokane, Wash. - Mead HS won three Greater Spokane League championships and competed in three 4A state tournaments was a runner-up finish in 2012, and third place in 2010...Valedictorian of the 440 students in Mead Class of 2013. Kyra Holt (pronounced kai-rah), a 6-1 outside hitter from Hercules, Calif. - named to the 2012 Under Armour High School national All-America honorable mention team...ranked 44th in PrepVolleyball.com's Top 100 players in the nation...named a PrepVolleyball.com Senior Ace...one of 15 players selected to the USAV Junior National All-Tournament Team...three-time MVP of the Bay Shore Athletic League and led Albany HS to two BSAL titles.is a two-time East Bay Sports Player of the Year. Haley MacDonald, a 5-11 setter from Bothell, Wash. - named to the 2012 Under Armour High School national All-America honorable mention team...named a PrepVolleyball.com's Senior Ace...led Jackson HS team to third place at 2012 state 4A championships after winning a title in 2010, plus eighth and fourth place finishes...All-Area first team selection. Tani Stephens, a 5-7 defensive specialist from Albany, Ore. - Gatorade State Player of the Year for the state of Oregon...led West Albany HS to 2012 Oregon 5A state championships after being runners-up in 2011, and third and fourth place her freshman and sophomore years...named co-MVP of 2011 and 2012 state championship matches as well as being named to the All-State Tournament first team twice and the second team once.
