Volleyball 2013 Signee Emmy Allen Named MVP at Prep All-America Match

Under Armour All-America Match LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Emmy Allen, an incoming member of the 2013 Washington State University volleyball team, was named the Team West Most Undeniable Player (MVP) at the 2012 Under Armour Girls High School All-America Volleyball Match Dec. 14, at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. Allen, a 6-2 outside hitter from Mill Creek, Wash., led Team West to a 26-24, 25-23, and 18-25 win over Team East. The match featured members of the Under Armour All-America First Team comprised of 24 high school seniors selected from throughout the nation. A delayed broadcast of the match will be televised on ESPNU Sun., Dec. 23, at 10:30 a.m. PT. In addition to her Team West MVP honor, Allen was named the Best Server at the Under Armour Skills Competition held prior to the East-West All-America match. The Under Armour events were held in conjunction with the 2012 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Annual Convention and the NCAA DI Women's Volleyball Championship semifinal and final matches. Allen led her Jackson High School team to the third place finish at the 2012 Washington 4A State Championship Tournament after winning the state title in 2010 and achieving two more top eight state finishes. She was an all-tournament selection at the USAV national championships playing for the Washington Volleyball Academy club team. In addition to Allen's first team All-America selection, two more 2013 Cougar volleyball signees were named to the Under Armour honorable mention All-America team: Kyra Holt, a 6-1 outside hitter from Hercules, Calif., and Haley MacDonald, a 5-11 setter from Bothell, Wash. The Under Armour All-America Awards nomination requires that the student-athlete be in her senior year in high school, that she be nominated by her high school coach, that her coach be a member of the AVCA and that her individual season statistics versus all opponents for the entire season be entered into MaxPreps.com, a free service that aggregates and distributes data on high school sports.
