Off the Court with Holly Harris

Holly Harris is a 6-2, senior middle hitter on the Cougar volleyball team. Harris is from Sandy, Utah, and is currently sixth in Washington State career total blocks with 368. At the conclusion of the Cougar volleyball season, Harris will join the Cougar women's basketball team as a forward.
FAVORITES: Athlete - John Stockton, Utah Jazz point guard. Movie - Hoosiers. Book - Wooden by John Wooden, former UCLA basketball coach. TV Show - I'm not a big TV watcher but I watch any reality show that is on at the time. Must have food or drink - Diet Coke. Forbidden food - All kinds of ice cream. Class at WSU - Principles of coaching taught by Ryan Topper. Professional team - Utah Jazz. Musical artist - Something Corporate.
Most Memorable Match - Beating Stanford at home my sophomore year. (Since this interview, WSU upset No. 1 ranked Stanford at Bohler Gym on senior night for the Cougar volleyball players.)
Before each match I - Do my game hair.
Who is the toughest player across the net you've ever faced? The player I've always respected in my position was Jennifer Pahl from USC (three-time All-Pac-10 selection). She was a good player with a good attitude and a really good blocker. She got her job done but kept her integrity.
What do you want to do when you grow up? That's a good question. I think I want to do something in the sport industry. I could go to law school and become a sport agent, or work for a professional team or be a high school coach.
If I wasn't playing college volleyball I would be - Student Body President.
Best thing about Washington State (Pullman) - The community and my friends here.
If I could bring one thing from my hometown, it would be - The mountains. I like to ski and hike and camp and fish - anything outdoors.
Hair ribbons or not and why? Definitely ribbons. They've always worked for me. I remember wearing huge, enormous ribbons in high school. I've always done it and its always been cute. Its always been my thing.
Most frequently dialed number on my cell phone - My mom and dad.
On a long trip, drive or ride? Drive, dude.
Vacation location to do what? Hawai'i because I've never been and I'd lay out all day and enjoy the beach.
If I could change one thing about my game - I wish that I was a better blocker. I wish that I could be the most amazing blocker in the conference. I wish I could jump higher.
Conditioning drill you dislike the most - Coach on one.
Advice you would give a young volleyball player - Keep loving the game. Enjoy playing and kept that love for your entire career.
