Volleyball Opens Pac-10 Play at Oregon State, Oregon

COUGAR VOLLEYBALL OPENS PAC-10 SEASON IN OREGON: The Washington State volleyball team (11-0) travels to Oregon to take on Oregon State (9-3) and No. 7 Oregon (10-0) this weekend...WSU plays OSU in Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Friday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m., and meets Oregon Sunday, Sept. 27, in Eugene for a 1 p.m. contest on McArthur Court...the WSU-OSU match can be heard in Pullman on KQQQ 1150 AM, and the WSU-UO contest will be heard on KHTR 104.3 FM Sunday. COUGAR COACHING STAFF: Head Coach Andrew Palileo is in his second season at WSU after a highly successful tenure at South Dakota State...Palileo has a 21-19 overall record at WSU, and a 13-year career record of 251-160...associate head coach Brian Lamppa and assistant coach TeAna Tramel complete the coaching staff...Kara Kiefer is the coordinator of operations. NATIONAL RANKINGS MEAN TOUGH SCHEDULE FOR COUGS: The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Div. I Coaches Top 25 Poll for Sept. 21, has many WSU's opponents ranked...the Pac-10 schools include No. 3 Washington, No. 7 Oregon, No. 10 Stanford, No. 12 California, No. 13 USC, No. 14 UCLA, No. 19 Arizona...Utah was ranked No. 17 when Washington State swept the Utes Sept. 5...also receiving votes in this week's poll is Washington State (No. 37), and Oregon State (No. 29)...last week the Cougs were listed at No. 35...defending national champion Penn State is ranked No. 1...for the weekly poll, go to www.avca.org.
