PAC-10 CONFERENCE PLAY BEGINS
The Washington State University volleyball team (6-4) begins the Pacific-10 Conference action this week...Cougars take on the No. 15 Ducks (12-0) at Eugene (Mac Court) Friday, Sept. 24 and then head to Corvallis (Gill Coliseum) to meet the Beavers (7-7) Saturday, Sept. 25...both matches begin at 7 p.m.
DUCKS END AN ERA AND BEGIN NEW ONE WITH COUGARS
Friday's WSU match at Oregon will be the final appearance for any Cougar team in the historic McArthur Court...at the other end, as of this date, WSU women's basketball team will open Oregon's new Matthew Knight Arena, taking on the Ducks Jan. 6, 2011.

WSU volleyball fans can listen to all the road contests this season LIVE in the Palouse on KQQQ-AM radio (1150 on the AM dial), or Border 104 (KHTR, 104.3 on the FM dial)...veteran area broadcaster Steve Grubbs is the voice of Cougar volleyball for the sixth season...these road matches are also available for listening on the internet by purchasing a subscription through the Cougars All-Access button on the wsucougars.com website.
GANZER IS COUGS' OFFENSIVE WEAPON
Junior outside hitter Meagan Ganzer (Black Diamond, Wash.) leads the Pac-10 and is 2nd nationally with a 6.08 kills per set average and 6.68 points per set...Ganzer has tallied three 30-point matches in the past five contests for WSU...Ganzer and the Cougars have seen the No. 1 offensive player, Tulsa's Tyler Henderson (6.61 kps and 7.06 pps).
ANOTHER TOUGH SCHEDULE FOR COUGS
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Div. I Coaches Top 25 Poll (Sept. 20), has six of WSU's opponents ranked in the top 25, all Pac-10 schools so the Cougs will play each twice...conference teams include No. 1 Stanford, No. 6 USC, No. 7 Washington, No. 8 California, No. 11 UCLA, and No. 15 Oregon...Arizona (27th) "also received votes" in the current poll...complete poll is on the second page of this release or go to www.avca.org for the weekly Coaches Top 25 poll.
COUGAR COACHING STAFF
Head Coach Andrew Palileo is in his third season at WSU...returned Cougars to NCAA Championship tournament in 2009...Palileo has a 34-36 overall record at WSU, and a 14-year career record of 273-177...named 2009 Pac-10 Conference Coach of the Year after guiding the Cougars to their first winning season (18-13) since 2002, with six league wins, the most since 2002...only one loss came to unranked team. associate head coach Brian Lamppa (third season)...assistant coach Jennifer Fry (first season)...Kara Kiefer, coordinator of operations (second season)...Tina Martin, volunteer coach (second season).
