July 15, 2010
PULLMAN, Wash. -- COBRA Magazine, an online publication dedicated to African American women volleyball players, has selected three Washington State players on its national 2010 All-Preseason teams. Cougar sophomore libero Oceana Bush (Spokane) was named to the 15-woman first team while senior middle blocker Brittany Tillman (Lakewood, Wash.) and transfer senior outside hitter Vanessa Murray (Chatsworth, Calif.) were named to the All-Preseason second team. COBRA Magazine (www.cobramag.t83.net) selected Bush to its 2009 All-National third team last December. She was a Pacific-10 Conference All-Freshman team first team selection last fall after leading the NCAA Tournament participant Cougars' 2009 team in digs with a 4.78 digs per set average. Tillman is the top returning blocker to the WSU team with a 0.88 blocks per set average and the second-leading hitter returning with a 2.45 kills per set average. Murray transferred to WSU from Kansas State where she average 2.11 kills per set last season. Head Coach Andrew Palileo, the 2009 Pac-10 Coach of the Year, and the Cougars begin the 2010 volleyball season by hosting the Washington State Tournament with teams from UC Irvine, Weber State and Idaho, Aug. 27-28, at Bohler Gym.
