PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Washington State University volleyball team begins its spring competitive schedule this weekend with a tournament at the University of Idaho according to Cougar head coach Cindy Fredrick.

WSU will compete against Gonzaga, a WSU Alumni team, and the host Vandals this Saturday, Mar. 30, at Moscow, the first of four tournaments for the Cougar spikers this spring.

The Cougars will compete at San Diego, April 6, against Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine and host University of San Diego. April 13 finds the Cougs in Portland for the University of Portland tournament at Nike, Beaverton.

WSU closes the spring season with a tournament at home, in Bohler Gym April 27. Teams from Idaho, Gonzaga, Eastern Washington and the WSU Alumni Team are set to compete.

The WSU Alumni team is comprised of current Cougar assistant coach Jen Greeny, volunteer assistant coaches Andrea Roelen and Samantha Spink Ramsey, and Kali Surplus, Melissa Boyle and Kerry Lewis from the 2001 squad.

The Cougars open the Fall 2002 schedule with the 13th Cougar Challenge Tournament featuring BYU, Nevada, and Gonzaga, Aug. 30-31, at Bohler Gym.
