PULLMAN, Wash. -- UCLA's Brynn Murphy led all players with 16 kills and hit .500 as the No. 16 Bruins defeated the Washington State volleyball team 30-27, 30-22, 30-27 Friday night at Bohler Gym.

UCLA (18-9 overall, 14-3 Pac-10) hit a mere .189 for the match after games hitting percentages of .049, .186 and .326. Becky Green was the only other Bruin with double figure kills with 10 but the Rachell Johnson and Krystal McFarland each added six blocks as UCLA out-blocked the Cougs 12 to 6. Chrissie Zartman added a match-high 16 digs.

WSU (4-26, 1-16) was led by the 10 kills of Jennifer Todd. Kelly Rosin and Kristin Kelley each added seven kills while Todd, Kelley and Jen Barcus each contributed three blocks. Rosin had a pair of aces and Stacey Holbrook with the WSU digs leader with 10. The Cougars had a .067 hitting percentage for the match.

WSU had a four-point lead in the third game until the Bruins tied it up at 23 and their experienced front row took over to get the 30-27 win.

"UCLA looked a little tired," Cougar Head Coach Brian Heffernan said. "In game three I asked Nicole Martin to really make sure she established our middle and get the ball to Jen Barcus and Jenn Todd and I think she did that."

WSU ends the 2004 season taking on No. 6 USC Saturday night in Bohler Gym.
