Box Score

PULLMAN -- Kate Sommer had a career-high 29 digs in the Washington State volleyball team (12-17, 2-15 Pac-12) loss to Oregon State (14-15, 4-13) 29-27, 25-23, 21-25, 25-23 Friday night at Bohler Gym.

OSU's Camille Saxton and Ashley Eneliko each had 16 kills while Arica Nassar added 14 kills and six blocks. Haley Clarke contributed six blocks as the Beavers out-blocked the Cougars 16 to 12.5. Megan McBride had 41 assists and Becky Defoe had 27 digs.

Marcelina Glab had 15 kills, hit. .333 and led the match with seven blocks. Jaicee Harris had 15 kills and 10 digs while Rachel Todorovich had 11 kills. Camryn Irwin set up 50 assists, had 12 digs and six blocks. Chelsey Bettinson played in two sets and had four kills, hit .333 and tallied five blocks. Sommer's 29 digs tonight puts her season total at 406 digs, eighth-best on the WSU all-time single season list.

The first set was indicative of the Cougars continued battling in contests but not reaching a victory as there were 17 tied scores and 11 lead changes and WSU served for the set twice before falling to the Beavers 29-27.

"I am proud of the way we fought back after Oregon State went on some streaks but we just couldn't finish it at the end and that's a tough loss," Cougar Head Coach Jen Greeny said. "I thought we did some really good things but the inconsistency is what killed us at crucial times. Camille Saxton and Ashley Eneliko are experienced seniors and I thought we did a good job of shutting down Saxton but Eneliko had a great night so we need to be more consistent. Now we need to regroup for a really tough Oregon team tomorrow."

WSU takes on No. 4 Oregon (22-4, 13-4) Saturday, Nov. 17 in a 7 p.m. match at Bohler Gym. The Ducks fell in five sets at No. 6 Washington Friday night with set scores of 26-24, 16-25, 21-25, 32-30, 25-23.
