PULLMAN, Wash. - Khrystyna Pavlyuk, a standout tennis player from Ukraine, has signed a national letter of intent to play tennis next fall for Washington State University, Head Coach Lisa Hart announced Friday.

"We are thrilled to add Khrystyna Pavlyuk to our program," Hart said. "Adding a player of her caliber to our already talented team makes for a very exciting and promising future for Cougar tennis. Coach Eka Burduli has done an excellent job throughout the recruitment process of Khrystyna and a tremendous amount of credit goes to her for bringing this talented young woman into our Cougar tennis family."

Pavlyuk held a career-high ITF ranking of No. 360 and has posted victories over Women's Tennis Association players with rankings as high as No. 350.

In 2008, Pavlyuk won two under-18 tournaments in Turkey, and reached the final and semifinal of two others. In 2009, she won an under-18 ITF tournament in Latvia in doubles, and reached the quarterfinals in singles.

Pavlyuk was coached by Andrei Bakunin, as well as Valerii Kutusov, who also coaches Vika Kutuzova, the 70th ranked player in the WTA.
