Cougar Tennis Travels To Southern California
April 9, 2002 The Washington State women's tennis team heads to Southern California for two matches. The Cougars, ranked 28th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's rankings, play at No. 7 UCLA Friday and at No. 13 USC Saturday. Washington State is 9-8 this season and 1-4 in the Pac-10. "We're taking the same mental approach going into this match," said WSU assistant coach Jackie Booth. "This is a tough conference with some top-caliber teams. We want to play to our potential and try to achieve our personal goals this weekend in Southern California." The Cougars are anchored by Erica Perkins, a senior ranked 54th, and Stacy McKenna, a sophomore ranked 78th nationally. Combined they form the No. 15 doubles team, the highest ranking ever for a Cougar doubles team. The Cougars next competition will be at the Stadium Way Tennis Center in Pullman against local rival Idaho. The Cougars will take on the Vandals Tuesday (April 16) at 2 p.m.
