WSU Tennis Hosts Montana State, Gonzaga

THIS WEEK: The No. 64 Washington State women's tennis team will host two regional rivals in a doubleheader Saturday, March 26...the Cougars will square off against Montana State at 9 a.m. and Gonzaga at 2 p.m.

WSU HEAD COACH Lisa Hart ON THIS WEEKEND: "We're excited to be home and be playing outside. We've been working hard and we expect to get two wins this weekend."

COUGARS CLIMB ALL-TIME LIST: Senior Nora Gaal sits in sixth place on the all-time career singles victories list with 69...fellow senior Chris Martinez also continues to elevate herself up the list...she has 67 career singles victories which is good enough for seventh on the all-time list.

TOUGH COMPETITION: The Cougars have faced 12 ranked opponents out of the 17 teams they have faced in dual match play.

LAST TIME OUT: The Cougars fell in a singles only match against the University of Washington...not all was lost against the Huskies, freshman Ekaterina Burduli upset then No. 6 seed Dea Sumantri 7-5, 6-1...Chris Martinez also came up victorious at the No. 3 position by defeating Mugette Ahn 6-3, 6-4.

UP NEXT: The Cougars will head down south to take on the Arizona schools...Friday, April 8 WSU will take on the Sun Devils at 1:30 p.m....Saturday, April 9 the Cougars will face the Wildcats at noon.

FRESHMAN IMPACT: After joining the Cougar family in January Burduli has already begun to make her mark on Cougar tennis...after upsetting No. 6 Sumantri of Washington...she currently sits at No. 52 nationally in singles.
