PULLMAN, Wash. -

Weekly Release

THIS WEEK: The Washington State University women's tennis team hosts Boise State Saturday at 11 a.m. at the WSU Hollingbery Fieldhouse.

ABOUT BOISE STATE: The Broncos come into Pullman with a 5-2 record. Boise State started the year strong, winning their first five matches. Boise State fell to BYU and No. 41 Utah in their last two outings. Boise State finished the 2011-12 season with a final record of 8-12.

LAST TIME OUT: The Cougars easily cruised past Portland, 7-0. However, the Cougars had their difficulties along the way. Two of the six matches were pushed to a third set tiebreak. Ksenia Googe was challenged in her match at No. 2. After two sets of back and forth action, the match was forced to go into a third set tiebreak. Although Googe had dropped the second set, she rallied back to take the third set, defeating Sabine Fuchs 7-6(7-4), 6-7(7-3), 1-0 (10-5). Dajana Ognjenovic was tested in her match at No. 6. After relinquishing the first set, Ognjenovic was against the wall, going into a 6-6 tiebreak in the second set. Ognjenovic did not shy away, taking the second set 7-6 (14-12). She carried this momentum into the third tiebreak set, defeating Tori Troesch 4-6, 7-6(14-12), 1-0 (11-9).

PAC-12 PLAY COMING SOON: The Cougars will open Pac-12 play March 8 when they travel down to California. They will face No. 3 California on Friday and then turn around and play No. 13 Stanford on Saturday. Along with these two schools, the Pac-12 currently has nine teams ranked in the top 50 according to ITA.

WSU RANKED No. 40: In the most recent poll, the WSU women's tennis team garnered the No. 40 ITA national ranking. This comes after defeating Portland, 7-0, in their last outing. WSU is currently 9-2 on the season with their only losses coming against No. 20 Purdue and No. 44 Arkansas.

COACH HART: Lisa Hart enters her 10th season as the head coach of Washington State. Hart has accumulated 118 wins over her tenure, recording a 19-7 record along with a trip to the NCAA Championships in the 2011-12 season. Hart was awarded the PAC-12 Conference Women's Tennis Coach of the year award for the 2011-12 season.

CLIMBING THE CAREER CHARTS: Senior Liudmila Vasilieva is currently ranked No. 2 on WSU's career singles wins list with 102.
