THIS WEEK: The Washington State University Women's Tennis team host No. 58 Sacramento State, Gonzaga, and Eastern Washington this weekend at the WSU Hollingbery Fieldhouse. The Cougars will face No. 58 Sacramento State Friday to kick-off the weekend matches.

ABOUT SACRAMENTO STATE: No. 58 Sacramento State comes into the weekend with a 0-2 record. In their season opener, the Hornets fell to No. 28 Arizona 7-0. Two days later, the Hornets fell to No. 20 Texas Tech 7-0. Sacramento State ended the 2011-12 season with a 17-10 record and were the Big Sky Conference Champions.

ABOUT GONZAGA/EASTERN WASHINGTON: The Gonzaga Bulldogs enter the weekend with a 2-1 record. After falling to Oregon 5-2 in their season opener, the Bulldogs rallied back to win their next two. They defeated USAF 6-1 and Portland State 7-0. Eastern Washington comes to Pullman with a 0-3 record.

LAST TIME OUT: The Cougars traveled to Evanston, Ill. to compete in the ITA Team Indoor Championship. Washington State began the tournament Friday with a match against No. 26 Purdue. The Cougars kept the match close but could not gain the advantage, falling 4-3 to the Boilermakers. Saturday's matchup was against No. 38 Arkansas. The Cougars struggled to gain any momentum, falling 5-2.

COUGARS WAVE PINK: Washington State is hosting its annual Cougars Wave Pink events in support of Breast Cancer Awareness at women's basketball and women's tennis contests this weekend. On Saturday, the Washington State Women's tennis team will be giving away free Cougs Wave Pink T-shirts to the first 25 fans with additional t-shirts for sale for $10. All proceeds benefit Breast Cancer Awareness initiatives.

 

 

WSU RANKED No. 35: In the most recent polls, the WSU women's tennis team garnered the No. 35 ITA national ranking. This comes after two tough matches against No. 26 Purdue and No. 37 Arkansas in which the Cougars dropped both.

COACH HART: Lisa Hart enters her 10th season as the head coach of Washington State. Hart has accumulated 112 wins over her tenure, recording a 19-7 record along with a trip to the NCAA Championships in the 2011-12 season. Hart was awarded the PAC-12 Conference Women's Tennis Coach of the year award for the 2011-12 season.

CLIMBING THE CAREER CHARTS: Senior Liudmila Vasilieva is currently ranked No. 2 on WSU's career singles wins list with 96. Vasilieva needs 13 wins to surpass Elisabeth Fournier to become WSU's singles wins list leader. Senior Ksenia Googe sits at No.5 on the all-time wins list with 82 and senior Andjela Kankaras is currently in a three-way-tie for eighth with 76 victories.

PARKING AT HOLLINGBERY: Fans coming to Cougar Tennis matches this season can park in the Yellow 1 parking lot located directly south of Beasley Coliseum. There will not be any charge for parking on weekends, and daily passes can be purchases for weekday contests. Another option for tennis fans to park would be the Library Garage. The garage costs $3 for the entire day to park on either a Saturday or Sunday.
