WSU Tennis Cruises At Texas A&M Invitational
Nov. 1, 2002
College Station, Texas-- The Washington State women's tennis team dominated Texas Christian University at the Texas A&M Invitational Friday.
The Cougars won all four doubles matches and six out of seven singles matches. The 46th ranked doubles combo of Lorena Arias and Chris Martinez led Washington State as they defeated TCU's Saber Pierce and Karla Mancinas tandem, 9-7.
Washington State is working to find a lineup for the spring season as this is the last competition until the Cougars take the courts at the Jan. 17 Pacific-10 Indoor Championships in Seattle.
Both WSU and TCU went to last season's NCAA team tennis tournament and TCU eliminated the Texas A&M Aggies in the first round. WSU plays against Texas A&M Saturday at 1 p.m. and the Cougars take on Tulane Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
Each session consists of four doubles matches followed by eight singles matches. However, no team scoring is kept, and the singles matches count only for individual records.
