SEATTLE, Wash. - Washington State University women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 match to the University of Washington in the final day of the Huskies' Invitational. The victory snapped a three-match win streak by the Cougars in the series.
The Huskies put the match away early, winning five of the six singles flights. Senior Katherine Costain, who transferred from Washington State after the 1994 season, led the Huskies with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles against Andrea Reisz.
Tunde Nagy, WSU No. 2 singles player, defeated UW's Kori Sosnowy 6-3, 7-5, to go undefeated in the Huskies' Invitational. Nagy also beat Natalya Dawaf (Iowa) 6-1, 7-5 and Mari Maattanen (Pacific) 6-4, 7-5.
Washington State (3-3 overall, 0-3 Pac-10, 0-2 Nor Pac) is ranked 50th nationally and fourth in the Northwest Region
WSU will have a bye week and then head back to Seattle where they will face UNLV on Feb. 22 and SDSU on Feb. 23.
