Nora Gaal Wins Two Matches At Pac-10 Championships

Ojai, Calif. -- Washington State sophomore Nora Gaal won both of her matches Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals at the Pacific-10 Tennis Championships. Gaal, playing in the invitational draw, beat Arizona's Kelly Duncan, 6-3, 6-1 in the first round. Gaal followed with a 6-1, 7-6 victory over California's Jessica Shu in the Round of 16. Cougar No. 1 singles player Orsolya Sallai lost her first round match against Stanford's No. 35 Erin Burdette, 6-3, 6-4. WSU junior Lorena Arias fell to Stanford's No. 122 Story Tweedie-Yates, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4. Tournament winners will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA individual championships, May 15-24, in Gainesville, Florida.
