Eugene, Ore. - Washington State captured the opening doubles point then held on in singles play en route to a 4-3 victory over No. 55 Oregon Sunday afternoon.

With the win the No. 65 Cougars snap a three-match skid as they improve to 11-4, 1-2 in Pac-12 play while the Ducks fall to 10-3, 0-2 in conference action.

The day began with doubles and for the first time in five matches, the Cougars came away with the all-important point. Elizaveta Luzina and Charlotte Koning captured their second-straight win with an 8-2 victory over Lana Buttner and Brooke Hughes at No. 3. Oregon's top duo of Patricia Skowronski and Nicole Long evened the match with an 8-4 win over Liudmila Vasilieva and Lize Leenknecht, forcing the doubles point upon No. 2 doubles. The Cougar pair of Andjela Kankaras and Olga Musilovich trailed 5-2 before capturing the final six games for an 8-5 win over Julia Metzger and Pascale Neubert, clinching the point.

In singles play the Cougars quickly made it 2-0 as Neubert was forced to retire against Kankaras at No. 4 following just one game. Skowronski cut the lead in half as she battled through a close first set to defeat Ksenia Googe at No. 2, 6-4, 6-1.

Following a first-set tiebreaker, Musilovich, who missed the previous match with an ankle injury, rallied for a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 win over Buttner at No. 5 singles. At No. 6, Koning clinched the team victory as she had little trouble with Rabea Stueckmann, 6-3, 6-1.

At No. 3 singles, Metzger rallied from down a break of serve in each set to defeat Luzina, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2). The final match of the day, No. 1 singles, saw Long, who is undefeated in dual-match play this year, survive a three-setter, winning 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, giving Oregon its final point.

The Cougars return to action Friday when they host No. 5 UCLA at the Simmelink Tennis Courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse. Match time is set for 11 a.m.
