Washington State Blanks Montana, 7-0

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State women's tennis team cruised past Montana Saturday, en route to its second straight victory, at the Simmelink Tennis Courts at the Hollingbery Fieldhouse.
The Cougars jumped out to an early lead after winning two out of three doubles matches, earning the opening point.
The doubles point came down to a back and forth battle at the No. 2 slot. Ekaterina Kamendova and Marina Nicolas traded points with Amanda Bran and Rebecca Bran before the Cougars duo out lasted Montana's tandem, 9-8(5).
In singles play, Fournier made quick work of Amanda Bran winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. With the win, the WSU freshman has tallied 16 singles victories on the season. Playing at the No. 2 slot, Cekic downed Rebecca Bran, 6-2, 6-1.
For the second match in a row, Nicolas clinched that match for the Cougars. The WSU sophomore downed Nowak in three-sets, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2. Kamendova won her second match in a row with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, victory over Walker at the No. 1 slot.
Playing at the No. 5 slot, Selaru downed Kayla Moyse in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. At the No. 6 position Jessica Gomez completed the sweep for the Cougars with win over Lauren Gibson, 6-1, 6-1.
The Cougars will return to the court March 17, against Wyoming in Honolulu, Hawai'i.
