PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State Women's tennis team had little trouble topping Montana, 7-0, Saturday morning at the Simmelink Tennis Courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse. In the victory, senior Liudmila Vasilieva reached 100 career singles victories, only the second WSU tennis player to reach the century milestone.

With the win the Cougars improve to 7-2 on the season while Montana falls to 2-3.

In doubles action, Andjela Kankaras and Charlotte Koning struck first at No.2, cruising past the Montana pairing of Precious Gbadamosi and Ashley Mackey in an 8-2 victory. Olga Musilovich and Ksenia Googe followed in their steps at No. 3, defeating the duo of Sasha Carter and Maddy Murray 8-5, clinching the doubles point.

At No.1, after the doubles point was decided, Vasilieva and Elizaveta Luzina fell in a close match against Heather Davidson and Laurence Pelchat 8-6.

In singles play, Googe lead the charge for the Cougars, defeating Carter 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead. At No. 1, Vasilieva defeated Davidson 6-3, 6-1 to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead. The 100th win of Vasilieva's career moves her within eight of WSU's all-time leader, Elisabeth Fournier, who had 108 wins during her career.

Luzina secured victory for the Cougars, defeating Gbadamosi 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4. Down 5-1 in the third-set tiebreaker, Kankaras rallied back to defeat Haley Driver 6-4, 4-6, 1-0(11-9) at No. 3 to push the Cougars lead to 5-0. A 10-point tiebreaker was played in place of the third set with the team match already decided.

Musilovich made quick work of her opponent, defeating Pelchat 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5, increasing Musilovich's dual match win streak to nine on the year. Koning wrapped up play for the Cougars, defeating Maddy Murray 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.

The Cougars continue play at 4 p.m. when they host Nevada at the Simmelink Tennis Courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse.
