Cougars Blanked By Nebraska To Finish Weekend

LINCOLN, Neb. - The No. 68 Washington State women's tennis team ended their three match road trip with a 7-0 loss to the No. 74 Nebraska Cornhuskers Sunday. The Cougar's dual match record now sits at 2-4.
Washington State was swept in doubles. Cougar tandem Ekaterina Burduli/Nora Gaal lost their second match of the spring season by falling to Gitte Ostermann/Katie Garcia, 8-5. In No. 2 doubles Chris Martinez/Amy Toth found the same result, the Cougar duo lost to Imke Reimers/Ewelina Skaza, 8-5. Orsolya Sallai/Aleksandra Stefanova suffered an 8-2 loss handed to them by Milena Schultz-Gartner/Pamela Castillejos.
Singles play did not go any better for the Cougars. In the No. 1 position, Ekaterina Burduli lost her first match as a Cougar. Burduli was knocked off by No. 19 Ostermann, 6-4, 6-1. Toth, who was aiming to build on her five straight wins, came up short for the first time in dual match play, she was put down at No. 4 singles by Skaza, 6-3, 6-4.
"Nebraska is a great team," said Washington State Head Coach Lisa Hart. "We are definitely looking to rebound against Oregon next week."
The Cougars will begin Pac-10 play by squaring off with the Oregon Ducks in Eugene Friday, Feb. 11 at 1:30 p.m.
