Kristen (Krissy) Stubbs comes in to her first season as the Washington State assistant women's tennis coach. Stubbs arrives on the Palouse from Virginia Tech where she spent one year as an assistant. She helped guide the Hokies to a 14-14 record and fourth place finish in the Big East during the 2003-04 season.
Stubbs hails from Hilton Head, S.C., and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Virginia Tech. In July of 2003 she was hired by current Washington State Head Coach Lisa Hart as an assistant in Blacksburg and served as interim coach for a month when Hart left Virginia Tech for WSU in August of 2003.
During her collegiate playing career, Stubbs was a four-year letterwinner at Virginia Tech. Stubbs played for Hart from 2001-03. She was ranked nationally in singles during her senior season and set a school record with 81 career doubles victories.
Stubbs won several awards as a player on the court and in the classroom. Among her accolades are an Atlantic-10 all-conference selection in 2000, Atlantic-10 Rookie of the year, and Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete award in 2003. In addition, she won the prestigious national ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award in 2003.
Stubbs is engaged to Matt Hall and they are planning to wed in the Summer/Fall of 2005.
