Cougars Hold Second After Day One of Speedo Cup Invitational
Dec. 5, 2002 Long Beach, Calif. - The Washington State University women's swim team swam their way into second place, Thursday during day one of the three-day Speedo Cup Invitational. WSU scored 233 points in the first day of competition trailing Pacific with 374 points. The Cougars got off to a quick start with a second place finish in the first event, the 200 free relay (1:36.62). They also ended strong with a third place finish in the 400 medley relay (3:51.28). In individual events, WSU had seven swimmers finish in the top 20. Lindsay Henahan had the school's top finish with second place in the 50 free (23.57). Lesley Ouellette (10) and Sara Schmied (16) also placed in the finals in that event. Becca Cohen grabbed a fourth place finish in the 500 freestyle (4:59.85), followed by Jill Olson (18). Rounding off the Cougar top finishers were Jane Copland (8) and Nicole Chinn (15) in the 200 individual medley. For complete results from the days events go to www.swim.uci.edu.
