Nov. 2, 2012

LOS ANGELES - Washington State swimming hit the road for the second week in a row taking on UCLA and UC Davis. The Cougars had some great swims but fell short of the beating the Bruins (150-97) and Aggies (139-119).

Some of the Cougar highlights included Emma Johansson finishing first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.06. Johansson also touched the wall second in the 100 fly clocking a time of 55.80. Senior Kelsey Bruggman finished third in the event for the Cougars posting a time of 57.48.

Freshman Loree Olson also performed well for WSU finishing second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:03.25 and third in the 400 IM at 4:29.72.

WSU ended the meet on a high note finishing first in the 400 free relay. The relay comprised of Johansson, Evelina Bieleckaite, Jenna Bekker, and Nicole Proulx earned the top spot in 3:26.85 nearly four seconds ahead of UC Davis which finished second to the Cougs.

"Our team is finishing strong" Cougar Head Coach Tom Jager said. "It was cool to see Loree Olson to step up. Today was a real solid meet for her."

The Cougars seek their first victory against USC tomorrow at 10a.m.
