Cougars Compete at NCAA Championships

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State's Jane Copland and Erin McCleave each made appearances in preliminary heats as competition commenced at the 2006 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday, in Athens, Ga.

McCleave was the first WSU swimmer in the water, racing to a 28th place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:50.26. Copland competed in 200 individual medley finishing 60th overall with a preliminary swim of 2:04.41.

Racing continues Friday (March 17) at the 2006 NCAA Championships with McCleave schedule to compete in the 200 freestyle. Friday's events include the 200 medley relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 800 freestyle relay.
