MOSCOW, Idaho - Haley Anderson and Shelbi Luchini each won two races to highlight seven event victories for Washington State in nonconference swimming at Idaho, Saturday.

While Idaho won the meet 159.5-134.5, the Cougars outscored the Vandals in the swimming events. Idaho recorded 32 points in diving while Washington State does not sponsor diving.

"We had some great swims and we had some average swims," Cougar Head Coach Tom Jager said. "It's not how many times you get knocked down, it's how you get up. This team is ready to finish out the season strong."

After the Cougars won the 200 medley relay, Anderson won the first individual swimming event of the day with a 10:38.84 in the 1000 freestyle. Anderson added a victory in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:11.92.

Luchini touched the wall first in the 200 fly and 200 individual medley. She won the 200 fly in 2:07.17 and took the 200 IM in 2:08.36 with a pair of Idaho swimmers less than a second behind. Luchini was the top point scorer for Washington State adding a point with a fifth-place finish in the 200 back for a team-high 19.

Washington State's other victories were turned in by Emma Johansson in the 100 back (57.03) and Evelina Bieleckaite in the 50 freestyle (24.27). Both Johansson and Bieleckaite were part of the 200 medley relay victory.

Emma Neely (200 and 100 freestyle) and Melissa Bogert (50 freestyle and 100 fly) each had a pair of second-place finishes. Neely also finished fourth in the 500 freestyle.

Danielle Palumbo contributed points in the three events with a second in the 200 back, third in the 100 back and fifth in 200 IM.

Washington State will travel across the state to Federal Way for the Pac-12 Championships beginning Feb. 22.
