Sam Horn

Position: Volunteer Asst., Swimming

Sam Horn graduated from Puyallup High School in 2003. He was named his high school's Male Athlete of the Year while serving as captain of both the swimming and water polo teams. In 2001 and 2002, Horn was a high school Consideration All-American. Sam is a 10-time Washington State High School swimming finalist. He led his team to the State Championship in 2002 and his 400 Freestyle Relay to a first place finish. His team was league and district champions all four years Sam was in high school. Sam also received Second Team All-State honors in water polo. Sam's coaching duties last season were multi-faceted. He worked with the team videotaping and reviewing stroke technique; coaching swimming and dryland sets during daily practices; and aided in coaching at dual meets, the winter training trip to Miami, Florida, and at the Pac-10 Championships. The continued acquisition of knowledge about the sport of swimming makes Sam an integral part of the program's staff. Prior to WSU, Sam served as an assistant coach at the Tacoma Lawn and Tennis Club. Academically, Sam was named to the President's Honor Roll in 2003-04. He is currently working on finishing his business degree at WSU and spent the past summer in Seattle working in the Public Relations Department at Seafair. In his spare time, Sam enjoys playing water polo, intramural sports, and surfing. His parents are Charles and Patti Horn.
