Cougar Swimming Opens Pac-12 Championship

Washington State is trailing its closest competitor, Utah, by only two points.

WSU CAREER
Junior (2010-11):
Contributed 20 points at the Debbie Pipher Memorial Invitational...finished second in the 50 and 100 freestyles while taking third in the 100 fly...set lifetime bests in the 50 free (23.38) and 100 free (51.37) at Princeton...her time in the 50 free moved her to third on the WSU all-time list...was a member of the winning 200 free relay team...part of the 200 medley relay which tied for a season best for the Cougars...took 28th in the 50 free at the Pac-10 Championships....also finished 27th in the 100 fly and 30th in the 100 free...named to Pac-10 All-Academic first team.

Sophomore (2009-10): Finished 12th in the 100 fly and 22nd in the 50 freestyle at the Minnesota Grand Prix...came on strong at the end of the season by setting three season bests at the Pac-10 Championships...finished advanced to the "C" final of the 50 free with a time of 23.52 (7th all-time)...time of 55.74 in the 100 fly ranks 6th on the Cougar all-time list...set lifetime best of 51.97 in the 100 free...part of the 200 free relay team that posted season-best time at Pac-10's (1:32.95)...named to Pac-10 All-Academic first team.

Freshman (2008-09): Placed first in the 100 free (53.76) against Northern Arizona...placed third in the 100 free (54.53) against Idaho as well as in the 100 butterfly against Oregon State (58.33) and Washington (59.50)...member WSU "B" 400 free relay team that finished third overall at the Pacific Invitational (1:48.36)...member of the WSU "B" 200 medley relay team that finished second against Northern Arizona (1:48.34)...placed ninth overall at the Pacific Invitational in the 50 free (24.81)...swam season-bests in the 50 free (24.03) and 100 free (52.37) at the Pac-10 Championships...placed first in the 50 fly (26.26) at the UCI Sprint Invitational.

HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB CAREER
Earned four varsity letters under high school coach John Wray...helped JDHS to win three state championships...two-time 100 fly All-American...three-time relay All-American and 200 medley relay joint state record holder...swam for Southeast Alaska under Scott Griffith...was a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

PERSONAL
Born in Providence, R.I...will turn 22 midway through the season...father Henry is a mining engineer and mother Carolyn is an architect...sister Sara swims for Purdue...enjoys kayaking, hiking, slacking, juggling, ultimate frisbee, skiing and running...pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering.
