Cougar Soccer Trio Earns All-Region Honors

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Senior Brandi Vega and juniors Micaela Castain and Rachael Doyle were named to the 2012 NSCAA All-Pacific Region Third Team. A native of Carson City, Nev., Vega scored eight goals for the Cougars, tying for eighth in Pac-12. The forward was tied for eighth in the conference with 21 points and tied for 10th with five assists. A midfielder, Castain tied for second in the Pac-12 with 11 goals, including a team-leading five game-winners. The Castro Valley, Calif., native tied for fifth in the conference with 24 points. A native of New Epping, New South Wales, Doyle anchored Washington State's backline, responsible for nine shutouts during the regular season and a school-record 0.22 goals against average at home. In addition, Doyle notched three goals. All three Cougars were named All-Pac-12 Second Team.
