Lara, Rustrum Named To Academic All-District Team

PULLMAN, Wash.- Washington State seniors Ashley Lara and Alix Rustrum have been named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 women's soccer team as voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Lara earned first team honors with Rustrum earning second team accolades.

Lara, a human nutrition and foods major, carries a 3.91 grade point average and has been named to the President's Honor Roll each semester attended at Washington State. The Las Cruses, N.M., native earned Pac-10 All-Academic first team honor as a junior and second team honors her sophomore year.

The 2004 USAA All-American Scholar Athlete made 27 starts in the Cougar defense in her WSU career and served as a co-captain on the 2005 squad.

Rustrum, a pharmacy student, carries a 3.7 GPA and has been accepted into the graduate program at Washington State. The two-time Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention honoree also earned 2004 USAA All-American Scholar Athlete accolades.

Senior Alix Rustrum was named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 secon team.


The Wilsonville, Ore., native is fourth on the Cougar career list for goals (18) and points (45) and is tied for fourth in game-winning goals with five. Rustrum earned All-Pac-10 second team honors in 2004 for her nine goal, 19 point season performance.

The District 8 selections advance to the national ballot with the 2005 ESPN The Magazine All-American team announced Nov. 21.
