INDIANAPOLIS - The Washington State University women's soccer team received an at-large bid to the 2009 NCAA Division I Championship, the NCAA announced, Monday.

The Cougars will face Villanova (11-5-5, 4-4-3 Big East), Friday, Nov. 13 in the first round at 8 p.m. Eastern/5 p.m. Pacific on the University of Maryland campus in College Park, Md. This is the second-straight NCAA Championship appearance for WSU, a first for the program, and a first for any Cougar women's program since rowing went to consecutive NCAA Championships in 2003 and 2004.

"It is a great honor, it's our 20th Anniversary and to go to back-to-back tournaments speaks to the state of our program," WSU Head Coach Matt Potter said. "I am very excited for our student-athletes, our program and our fans. It is a great moment for everyone."

WSU finished the regular season with a record of 13-5-2 overall and 5-2-2 in the Pacific-10 Conference. The Cougars finished third in the conference behind Stanford and UCLA, both a No. 1 national seed in the NCAA Championship, and equaled their best Pac-10 record in school history.

The Cougars and Wildcats have never met in women's soccer. WSU is 5-0-1 all-time against current members of the Big East Conference, including a 1-0-1 under Potter. The Cougars tied West Virginia 0-0 a year ago and defeated Syracuse 4-0 earlier this season.
