Cougars Lose Top 25 Battle to Beavers
Oregon State scored twice in the first half and the 21st-ranked Beavers held off No. 18 Washington State 2-1 in Pac-12 women's soccer, Friday night.

THIS WEEK
Washington State soccer (9-6-1, 3-4-1 Pac-12) dwindles down its season with its next-to-final weekend of scheduled play...Cougars will go toe-to-toe with a pair of Pac-12 adversaries at Lower Soccer Field...WSU faces Oregon State, Friday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m...Sunday, Oct. 28 the Cougars will battle Oregon at noon...live stats for both matches will be available at wsucougars.com.

LAST WEEK
Washington State fell to a pair of nationally ranked Pac-12 teams...Cougars were edged out 3-2 by No. 2 Stanford in Stanford, Calif...Micaela Castain and Zoe Jeffers connected with the back of the net for WSU...No. 18 California overcame Washington State 3-2 in Berkeley, Calif...Korynn Blanksma picked up her first career goal and Nicole Setterlund recorded her first goal this season.

WASHINGTON STATE HEAD COACH Keidane McAlpine
Cougar Head Coach Keidane McAlpine is in his first year as head coach at Washington State, and his sixth year overall as a head coach...McAlpine is 9-6-1 in Pullman and 49-54-12 overall.

COUGARS IN THE RANKINGS
Washington State is No. 8 in the NSCAA Pacific Region poll...is No. 48 in the current NCAA RPI.

STINGY DEFENSE
In the last two years, Washington State has only given up three goals in 14 matches played at Lower Soccer Field...while playing at home the Cougars have allowed only two goal in the previous eight Pac-12 matches.

SPREADING THE WEALTH IN THE BAY AREA
During matches against Stanford and California, Washington State scored a total of four goals, with eight different student-athletes appearing on the score sheet...Castain, Jeffers, Blanksma and Setterlund tallied the goals, aided by Bethanie Skelton, Kourtney Guetlein, Jocelyn Jeffers, and Mesa Owsley, respectively.

ABOUT OREGON STATE
The Beavers are 11-4-2 overall and 3-3-2 in Pac-12 play...outscored their opponents 28-19 this season...junior forward Jenna Richardson and senior midfielder Megan Miller lead the team with seven goals apiece.

SERIES WITH THE BEAVERS
Washington State leads 10-8-3 all-time; including a record of 4-4-2 in Pullman...last year No. 21 Oregon State defeated the No. 18 Cougars 2-1 in Corvallis, Ore.

ABOUT OREGON
The Ducks are 7-8-2 on the season and are 2-5-1 in Pac-12 Play...freshman forward Kristen Parr is the team leading scorer, tallying seven goals to-date this season.

SERIES WITH THE DUCKS
Washington State leads 8-4-4 all-time; including a mark of 4-3-1 in Pullman...last year, WSU was upset by Oregon 1-0 in Eugene, Ore...Achijah Berry scored in the first half, which was enough to push the Ducks past the No. 18 Cougars.

WASHINGTON STATE IN THE STATISTICAL RANKINGS
Junior Micaela Castain and senior Brandi Vega continue to rank among the statistical leaders in the Pac-12 Conference...Castain is ranked second in in goals (10)...is tied for second in goals per game (0.62) and game-winning goals (4)...is tied for third in points (21)...and is fourth in points per game (1.31)...Vega is ranked 10th in shots (44) and is tied for 10th in points (16).
