The Washington State soccer team defeated the University of Idaho 1-0 with a Carmen Anderson goal Saturday, at Lower Soccer Field in a WSU Mom's Weekend match. The game was the third for the Cougars this spring, with matches four and five to be played this weekend in Portland, Ore.

"It's always nice to get a win, but the purpose of our spring has been to build on our foundation from last fall," WSU Head Coach Matt Potter said. "We continue to see bright moments and challenges that will stand us in good stead for the future. We saw some good individual performances all over the field and it was nice to see Carmen (Anderson) rewarded for her industriousness after the penalty miss."

WSU heads to Portland to take on the UP Pilots Saturday, April 16 at 3 p.m. at Merlo Field in the Clive Charles Soccer Complex. The Cougar squad will play Mexico's Women's National Team Sunday, April 17 at 1 p.m. at the same complex.

"We face a much different environment in Portland and Mexico this weekend," Potter added. "It will be good to see how we are progressing and cope with a different type of environment. It would be nice to have everyone healthy, but we are getting a good look at individuals and how they will impact the future. Even for spring, this weekend will be a huge test that we look forward to."
