PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State soccer squad earned the NSCAA/adidas Women's College Team Academic Award for carrying a 3.45 team GPA, giving the Cougars the No. 8 ranking among Division I women's soccer teams. The mark is the best among Pacific-10 Conference schools.

This isn't the first time the Cougars' excellence in the classroom has been recognized this season. Head Coach Matt Potter's squad had 11 players earn Pac-10 All-Academic accolades including two first team honorees, Megan Cecchini and Ashley Lara. In 2003 the WSU soccer team boasted a conference-leading 17 All-Academic selections.

Many Cougars have been recognized for their individual achievements in the classroom, as well, including junior co-captain Katie Hultin. The second team All-Pac-10 goalkeeper was named to the 2004 Academic All-District VIII Women's Soccer University Division Second Team for carrying a 3.53 GPA in biology.
