TUCSON, Ariz. - Tiara Pittman and Brandi Vega each scored a first half goal for Washington State and the Cougars defeated Arizona 2-0, Sunday in Pac-12 women's soccer.

With the victory, Washington State (12-6-2, 6-3-1 Pac-12) won for third-straight time in Tucson, and has won six of the last seven meetings overall with Arizona (1-15-2, 1-8-1 Pac-12).

"We knew the importance of being ready for this game to try and build on the momentum from Friday night," Washington State Head Coach Matt Potter said. "We got that response and to go two goals up in the first half was very pleasing."

In the 22nd minute, the Cougars earned a corner kick on the right side. Pittman's first shot in the box hit the far post before she beat Wildcats' goalkeeper Ashley Jett high with the rebound shot for a 1-0 lead. It was Pittman's second goal of the weekend and her fourth of the season.

Less than two minutes later, Vega received a pass on a long through ball up the right sideline. Vega went 1v1 with Jett. After Jett made the save of Vega's first shot, the Carson City, Nev., native knocked in the rebound for her sixth goal of the season.

Washington State closes its regular season at Washington, Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. Fox Soccer Channel will televise the battle as the NSCAA Match of the Week.
