Oct. 24, 2010
PULLMAN, Wash. - Oregon scored a pair of second half goals to defeat Washington State 3-1 in Pacific-10 Conference women's soccer, Sunday.
Kelsey Hones broke a 1-1 tie when she finished a cross from Brynne Konkel at 62:12 and Jen Stoltenberg tallied her second goal of the match off a rebound 1:28 later to give Oregon (5-8-3, 1-3-1 Pac-10) at 3-1 lead.
The Cougars (6-11-0, 1-5-0 Pac-10) took a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute when freshman Eileen Maes won a battle for the ball against two Oregon defenders in the box and beat Ducks' goalkeeper Lindsay Parlee insider the far left post.
The Ducks tied the match in the 28th minute when Stoltenberg buried a shot from 22 yards out after a cross was cleared out of the box by a Washington State defender.
There were plenty of offensive opportunities in the match for both teams as Oregon held a slim 20-18 advantage in shots.
The Cougars travel to USC for a 3 p.m. match, Friday, Oct. 29 to begin their final road trip of the season.
