PULLMAN, Wash. - Courtney Tinnin's goal in the first half pushed Arizona State past Washington State in a Pac-12 Conference battle played out on Lower Soccer Field, Friday.

In the 13th minute, Arizona State (6-6-1, 2-2-0 Pac-12) made the most of its first corner kick by converting it into the game-winning goal. Tinnin took the corner and shot the ball directly into the net, just inside the far post. Tinnin's goal proved to be the only score of the game.

The best scoring chance for the Cougars (7-4-1, 1-2-1 Pac-12) came when they strung together six consecutive shots in a little over a minute and a half, starting with Brandi Vega's shot in the 57th minute. Vega got a second go at the goal just 53 seconds later, which was directly followed by shots by Korynn Blanksma, Beau Bremer, Mesa Owsley then Micaela Castain. The most dangerous of which was Bremer's shot that beat Arizona State's keeper, but to WSU's dismay was cleared off the line by a Sun Devil defender.

"We just weren't hungry enough today," stated Washington State Head Coach Keidane McAlpine. "We created enough chances that we should have come away with a couple goals."

Washington State earned six corner kicks to five for Arizona State and WSU outshot the Sun Devils 20-14. Keeper Gurveen Clair made four saves for Washington State. The Cougars host Arizona, Sunday at 11 a.m.
