MOSCOW, Idaho - Senior Brooke Bemis scored two goals in the first seven minutes of the match and Washington State routed Idaho 4-0 in nonconference women's soccer Friday.

With the win, No. 25 (Soccer America)/No. 30 (Soccer Buzz) Washington State (7-1-2) locked up its best nonconference record in school history. The Cougars open Pacific-10 Conference play at Arizona Friday, Oct. 12 in a 7 p.m. match. The loss dropped the Vandals to 4-6-0.

The Cougars, who had scored two first half goals entering the match this season, found the net three times in the opening stanza against Idaho. At 2:34, sophomore Maggie Dougher sent a cross from the right into the box where Bemis headed it past Vandals' goalkeeper Anna Sandman to give WSU a 1-0 lead.

Just 4:16 later, sophomore Kiersten Dallstream fed Bemis in the box and the forward beat Sandman high for her fifth goal of the season.

"We practiced finishing all week, so that was our goal for the match and I think we accomplished that today," Bemis said. "It was a very satisfying win."

At the 21:03 mark, Dallstream tallied her fifth goal of the year when she found the back of the net after a rebound of her own miss.

"The manner in which we attacked and scored different types of goals is very encouraging" Cougar Head Coach Matt Potter said. "It was important for us to end our nonconference schedule with a positive performance and we accomplished that."

The Cougars final goal came at 82:05 when senior Anna Miller played a ball into the box from the left corner and it bounced off an Idaho defender across the goal line for an own goal tally.

Washington State senior goalkeeper Brynn Bemis notched her 14th career victory to tie Sara Leibowitz (2000-03) for fourth on the Cougar career list. Freshman Lindsay Parlee relieved Bemis at intermission and notched two second half saves in her first collegiate appearance.
