CAPTAINS' DIARY: WEEK THREE
September 14, 2004
What a weekend! With only one game to play, we knew we had to make it a great one. We tied Tennessee this past weekend 0-0. We always want a win…who doesn't? But a tie is a good result against a team who is ranked pretty high nationally.
Our performance was great. Everyone worked their tails off and had a good time doing it. There were a couple close calls on both ends of the field throughout the 110 minute game, but neither of us could put the ball in the back of the net. The energy and excitement we showed throughout the game was awesome and we never stoped fighting. The players on the field fed off the energy coming from the girls on the sideline and from the absolutely amazing crowd!
After the game the girls mentioned how pumped they got when they heard the crowd cheering and chanting for us. Hopefully we can get that kind of crowd to all of our home games.
This weekend we are headed to Los Angeles to play New Mexico and Northern Colorado. We know that we have set the standard once again for ourselves after last weekend, and this weekend will test us again. New Mexico always gives us a good game, and we don't know much about Northern Colorado. We will just have to play like we know how to and take care of business. Another couple days of hard practice should get us prepared for a good weekend. We are super excited for the road trip, and a two game weekend. Wish us luck!!
