Three Golfers Named to All-America Scholar Team
July 27, 2004 PULLMAN, Wash. - Three members of the Washington State University women's golf team were named to the 2003-04 Division I National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team earlier this month. Maria Kostina, senior psychology major, Jay-Lee Longbottom, senior psychology major, and Stephanie Parsley, junior secondary education major, were among 318 women named to the team. The NGCA recognition follows honors already given to the three women by the Pacific-10 Conference in June. Kostina was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic First Team, while Longbottom earned second team honors and Parsley was named an honorable mention selection.
The criteria for selection to the All-America Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 66 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
