Westbrook Results Rounds 1&2

PEORIA, Ariz. - After the first 36 holes of the Westbrook Spring Invitational hosted by Wisconson, the Washington State women's golf team is in 10th place at 39-over par collectively. The Cougar women will play one final round of 18 holes Monday.

Washington State junior Mallory Kent had the best performance for the Cougars in the tournament's first two rounds. Kent finished the day tied for 13th place at 5-over par after carding scores of 75 and 74, respectively. Sophomore Kristen Rue followed closely behind Kent in the first 36 holes, finishing the day 9-over par (tied for 29th). Rue improved on her first-round score by seven strokes in the second round.

"The team played tough today and never gave up," Cougar Head Coach Kelli Kamimura said. "We got off to a rough start, but our women fought back and closed out a solid second round. Our team is very talented and ready for a great final round."

The Cougar women improved on their first-round team mark of 214 by 13 strokes in the second round, which also moved them up one spot on the leaderboard into 10th. At the conclusion of the first day of the tournament, Arkansas led the 13-team field (+7). The individual lead of the tournament was shared by three athletes with one round to play: Elin Arvidsson of Texas Tech, SooBin Kim of Washington, and Gabriela Lopez of Arkansas, all 2-under par going into Monday's final round.

The final round of the Westbrook Spring Invitational will begin 9 a.m. Monday with a shotgun start. Live stats will be available during tournament play at golfstat.com, and will be posted at wsucougars.com at the conclusion of the tournament.
