1st-2nd Round Results

AUSTIN, Tex. - The WSU women's golf team completed the first two rounds of play at the Challenge at Onion Creek in Austin, Tex. The Cougars shot a 303 (+23) and 309 (+29) through two rounds, respectively, for a 612 (+51) to sit in 12th place.

Sophomore Mallory Kent lead WSU and is tied for 12th place with a at-par 70 and 77 (+7). Senior Kristen Allard shot an 8-over 78 in the first round but bounced back in the second round with a 3-over 73 for a total score of 151 (+11) to be tied for 27th place.

Freshman Kristen Rue posted a 78 (+8) in both rounds, finishing the first day of play tied for 51st place with a total of 156 (+16). Junior Ali Thompson shot 77 (+7) and 81 (+11) for an overall score of 158 (+18) to sit in a tie for 58th place. Junior Emma Betland carded an 85 (+15) and 81 (+11) for a score of 166 (+26) in 72nd place.

Competing as an individual, junior Ellen Park carded a 78 (+8) and 85 (+15) for a score of 163 (+23) after two rounds. She currently is tied for 69th place.

After the first round, the Cougars were in 9th place and three strokes ahead of No. 47 East Carolina. Mallory Kent led WSU in the first round with an at-par 70 and tied for 4th place.

The Cougars will begin the final round of play Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. eastern time.
