WSU Golf Concludes Play at the SEC/Pac-12 Challenge

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- Mallory Kent fired her best round of the tournament Sunday with a 1-under 71 to lead the Washington State Women's golf team today at the Mercedes-Benz SEC/Pac-12 Challenge. Kent carded an overall score of 226 (+10) to finish tied for 53rd place. "Mallory is playing great and I am so excited about what she accomplished this week," commented Head Coach Kelli Kamimura. "She has an exciting future ahead of her." The Cougars finished in 22nd place following a final round of 307 (+19), for an overall score of 928 (+64). Following Kent were Kristen Rue, who carded a 78 (+6) to tie for 100th place at 238 (+22). Emma Betland and Kristen Allard each posted a 7-over 79, to finish tied for 70th at 230 (+14) and tied for 116th at 248 (+32), respectively. Ali Thompson carded an 82 (+10) in the third round for a total score of 243 (+27) and finishing in 109th place. "I am proud of how we played this week; this is a premier event, and this is arguably the best invitational tournament field of the year," said Kamimura. "We are headed in a great direction and I look forward to our next tournament." The women's golf team will travel to Austin, Texas Nov. 4-5 to compete in the Challenge at Onion Creek to wrap up its fall season.
