Two Cougars Among The Top 15 After First Day Of Ihlanfeldt Invitational

REDMOND, Wash. - The Washington State women's golf team proved they can shoot with the best of them after completing the first round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the par-72, 6,030 yard Sahalee Golf and County Club.

The Cougars are among a field that consists of four teams ranked among the Top 25 in the nation by Golfstat, including three teams ranked among the top six. The Cougars shot 316 (+28) for the day and currently sit in 11th place.

Veteran Kim Welch currently leads the pack of Cougars the Junior carded five birdies, including four on the back nine to finish at 1-over 31. Welch is currently knotted in a four-way tie for 10th, and sits only two shots out of the Top 5. Sophomore Stephanie Parsley had two birdies on the course and tied her career high of 74, which leaves her tied for 14th place.

Heading into the second round, Junior Jay-Lee Longbottom sits in a tie for 61st, just six shots out of the Top 25. Heather O'Leary finished the day at 75th, while Lindsey Bogden sits one stroke behind her teammate in a tie for 76th.

The second round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational will tee off at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
